After a protest from supporters of single payer national universal health care, Congressman John Conyers was invited as the lone advocate of single payer at President Obama’s health care reform summit today. Mark Dudzic with the Labor Campaign for Single Payer Health care says the national single payer health care in the Conyers bill modeled on Medicare for all should be front and center in Obama’s health care reform debate.
[Dudzic]: “I think that six months from now the Conyers bill will be the last bill standing. I think as they get into the details of these reforms and as the economic crisis worsens logic of the moment will compel people to bring single payer into the house and figure out how to implement it.”
